 Ladakh

The flight into Leh, the capital of Ladakh, is an exciting experience as you fly over the dramatic regions of the Himalayas, the Great Himalayan, Zanskar, Ladakh and the Karakoram.

Ladakh, Ladakh Tourism

This area is highest inhabited region of India and the River Indus with its tributaries flows through the ranges. Ladakh is a separate province of the State of Jammu and Kashmir and distinct in its culture and topography. It is a region which was opened to tourists only a few years ago. Since then, foreign tourists, particularly a large number of young visitors are traveling to Ladakh to see its unspoiled beauty.

Ladakh People, Ladakh Tour

The landscape of Ladakh is glorious but stark and the surrounding mountains are painted in colors that only nature could choose. Only adventure lovers are recommended to visit Ladakh. Ladakh should not be compared with a hill station like Srinagar. The region is predominantly Buddhist and several important Buddhist monasteries dominate the region. Some of them are located within visiting distance from Leh and normally day excursions are ideal to visit most of them. The clean, dry air, magnificent scenery and the warm hospitality of the happy people makes Ladakh truly memorable.

• Travel documents: passport, visa, travel insurance, air tickets and hotel vouchers.
• First aid kit including re hydration salts, Sunscreen, lip balm and sunglasses due to harsh sunlight and exposure to high altitudes.

• Alarm clock and torch/flashlight.

• Underwear. Three pairs are enough.
• Bras for women, a few pairs
• Tampons or Sanitary Napkins.

Travel Light
During the itinerary you will be traveling most of the time so pack as lightly as possible. Most travelers carry their luggage in a back pack, although an overnight bag with a shoulder strap would suffice. Avoid large suitcases.

The mountains can be cold. Night time temperatures can be as low as 5 degrees(1-2 degrees at Sarchu), so bring a set of warmer clothes; thermal underclothes, being small and light, can be very useful. A warm jumper/jacket, cap, gloves and sunglasses no matter what time of the year, as we mostly travel at altitudes between (2000m – 5500m)

Weather Conditions/Forecast check
June end to September end is the monsoon months in India( But the rainfall in himalayan region above 3500m is very rare and minimum) and there could be some unforeseen problems like road blockages due to land slides or road damages. Although the Boarder Road Organization people are very well equipped and work very fast in these conditions but till then, change or delay in itinerary could be there as a result of climatic conditions, temporary roadblocks or some other unforeseen situation, we reach the destination from some other route or a day later, however it is quite unlikely.

Health
To stay hydrated, one needs to drink a lot of water, fluid intake (usually at small intervals)

Although a First Aid Box is always a part of our Kit, still we recommend that you carry any personal medical requirements if you have. And obviously your still camera and handy cam (video maker) etc.
